Additional State Funding for the Bridgewater Water Emergency
Getting state funding for our schools, police, fire departments, and other essential services is one of the most important jobs of a State Representative.
Every year, taxpayers in Bridgewater and Raynham send tens of millions of dollars to Beacon Hill and it’s crucial we get our fair share of money back.
I’m proud to have secured record funding at a time when rising costs make that support more important than ever.
Legislative Accomplishments and Goals
-
As a Navy veteran, Dennis believes Massachusetts has a responsibility to support those who risked their lives to protect our freedom. He backed legislation that increased state annuities for disabled veterans, Gold Star parents, and surviving spouses, and expanded property tax exemptions for veterans. Dennis also co-sponsored a bill with Republicans to create a Veterans Advocate who would provide independent oversight of veterans services and ensure programs are properly run and free from fraud and abuse.
-
The MBTA Communities Act threatens to withhold state funding from towns that do not comply with mandates to build apartments and other multifamily housing. Dennis joined with Republican colleagues to sponsor legislation protecting our towns from these unfair mandates and will continue to oppose them in his next term. Bridgewater and Raynham residents, not Beacon Hill politicians, should control local housing policy.
-
Dennis has stood up for seniors throughout his public service, first as a Bridgewater Town Councilor and now as a State Representative. He consistently supported increased funding for senior centers, elder transportation, home health aides, and other services, as well as the circuit breaker senior tax credit. With rising costs putting enormous pressure on retirees' fixed incomes, these programs are more important than ever.
-
Utility bills have risen even faster than the overall cost of living. Dennis has worked with both Democratic and Republican colleagues to roll back green energy mandates that drive up costs. While this effort was unsuccessful, Dennis continues to push for relief. He also supports stronger oversight of utility companies by the Department of Public Utilities to crack down on price gouging and unfair delivery fees.
-
Dennis has always supported our police and first responders, even at the height of the so-called “defund the police” movement. On the Bridgewater Town Council, he made sure our officers had the training and equipment they needed to keep us safe and he continues to support police and first responders as State Representative.
-
Opiate addiction is still causing pain, suffering, and even death throughout Bridgewater, Raynham, and the entire state. Dennis has consistently supported increasing funding for proven addiction treatment programs and also increased state oversight of taxpayer funded rehab centers and sober homes to make sure they are providing high-quality services.

Dennis is a proud public school graduate and believes every child deserves access to a high quality education. As a Town Councilor and now as State Representative, he has made sure our communities have modern school buildings and the resources needed to effectively educate students. He also supports expanding vocational education to prepare students for careers in the high-paying skilled trades without college debt.
