MEET DENNIS
Dennis Gallagher served his country in the U.S. Navy and his community as a Bridgewater Town Councilor. Now, he brings proven financial experience from both the private and public sectors to Beacon Hill as our State Representative.
Dennis Gallagher has called Bridgewater home for over three decades. He grew up next door in East Bridgewater in a crowded home as the youngest of seven siblings. His father worked as a corrections officer at MCI Bridgewater. After high school, Dennis volunteered to serve our country in the U.S. Navy. Following an honorable discharge, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Worcester State College.
Professionally, Dennis started his career in the private sector as a claims adjuster for several insurance companies. He then became the Assistant Plymouth County Treasurer, where he managed a multi-million dollar budget that supported 27 cities and towns along with the Sheriff’s Department, Registry of Deeds, and Probate Court. Later, Dennis was a manager at Plymouth County Retirement Association and then served as Director of the Braintree Retirement System, managing pension benefits for thousands of retired police officers, firefighters, teachers, and other municipal employees.
In 2024, Dennis was elected State Representative for Bridgewater and Raynham and he quickly became a bipartisan leader. With rising prices squeezing families and local budgets, he secured record levels of state funding for our district so communities can maintain essential services. He’s also worked with both Republicans and Democrats to support legislation to increase funding for local hospitals, expand veterans benefits, and protect Bridgewater and Raynham from severe budget cuts tied to the MBTA Communities Act.
In his spare time, Dennis is an avid road runner. Ever since losing both his parents to illness as a young man, he has raised money for medical charities by participating in marathons and other races. In 2019 he ran over 75 races, mostly in Massachusetts. He is also a longtime member of the Bridgewater Lions fraternal organization and a board member of Bluestone Bank, formerly known as Bridgewater Savings Bank.
